Remember when hooking up might get you pregnant?

If you are in the over 40 crowd, hooking up and Internet dating can get painful. Nevermind Tinder causing hook-up syndrome because it does not, we cause ourselves hook-up drama.

 The article “In Search of Nursemaid, No Internet Boos Allowed” seems to agree. (Tinder is not saying they agree, I am saying I agree.)

Internet dating for the aged is different that it is for the younger crowd. We see time progression in our profile pics and we may become physically injured during a hook-up. Is the participant in the hook-up required to call the paramedics or is it understood that it is the decent thing to do?

How would one contact next-of-kin if the hospital won't let you in the room because you are not married or related? What if the hook-up was underinsured or uninsured? Do you offer to pay for a hospital stay or urgent care as if it were dinner? How does all of that work during a hook-up? Remember when the greatest worry about hooking-up was pregnancy and stalking?

Kanye West gets real with Sway in the morning  I GET KANYE BUT WE AIN'T GOT THE ANSWERS. I understand what he is saying and he is correct. However, he has to pray as a Christian, to find his way. Sway is telling him to do things from scratch and Kanye is saying he shouldn't have to come up the rough side of the mountain at his current level and status. What he should do is collaborate and form a collective of people in his peer group, and go from there. However, this action will take enormous levels of cooperation within the collaboration. He has to create his own platform to control the means of production in his fashion arena. And then he should write songs about his struggles. People need to catch this, what he is saying, because we all face these barriers as we expand and make and achieve our highest goals.

Seniors need the right activities, Geriatric Activities Should be Appropriate to Ability

Leisure time activities for the elderly blind take research and planning. A changing social order and longer life expectancy call for planned and sustained activity schedules that meet the needs of elderly blind citizens. Therapy can assist the blind elderly in staying both active and safe in the Washington, D.C. area.                                                                        
Downtown Cluster's Geriatric Day Care Center, located in downtown Washington DC, offers art therapy for the elderly blind. As far back as the late seventies, art therapy has been used to exercise the mind and bolster self-esteem of elderly individuals, writes Jean Ellen Jones in an article entitled, "Art and the Elderly: An Annotated Bibliography of Research and Planning."

Some may feel as if art therapy isn't appropriate for the blind elderly citizen but sensory stimulation and enhancing existing skills is essential, according to Art Beyond Sight, a non-profit organization.

The staff at Downtown Cluster's Geriatric Day Care Center, appear to agree. They say art therapy is offered for blind elderly patients because it is an alternative path of expression.
"Art therapy helps participants tap into their abilities and strengths at a time in their lives when they are often reminded of losses and deficits," they write.

Music Therapy

Sunrise Senior Living offers music therapy at two locations in the form of sing-a-longs, dancing, name that tune and live entertainment. The Sunrise Senior Living staff feel as if music is a "familiar and universal language... nurtures the spirit and reminds...(the residents)" of better days.

The American Music Therapy Association web site says when music is used in a way that accomplishes a goal of therapy, it is then considered music therapy. It helps with "memory loss, general wellness, stress, pain management, communication, expression of feelings and helps with physical rehabilitation."
It is especially good for the elderly blind geriatric citizens.

Physical Therapy

Stoddard Baptist Nursing Home located in Washington D.C. offers physical therapy. They involve staff, residents and family in a "team" approach to geriatric activities for the blind elderly. Outings as physical therapy are available too. Stoddard's summer schedule in Washington, D.C. includes trips to flea markets and area churches. The sounds, smells and feel experienced on an outing are used in therapy. Additionally, an exercise group is a regular feature at Stoddard.

"Falling is a common and serious problem for the elderly," writes physical therapist John R. Mishock, DC, MPT, in a November 2009 Mercury newspaper article,
"Physical Therapy for Fall Prevention in the Elderly."

Using a the Stoddard physical therapy staff to assess fall risk or to help heal from a fall is a good activity in which to engage the blind elderly.

Looking at published reports, it seems as if Katherine Jackson needed to get some rest, as it was reported she had a stroke (but that fact was later denied.) Randy Jackson called into Al Sharpton's MSNBC show Tuesday to explain the situation and why Paris Jackson keeps tweeting about not knowing where her grandmother, Katherine, is located. Randy said she is with eldest daughter Rebe (Centipede) and her family in Arizona.

Katherine's kids want her to stay in Arizona with her eldest daughter Rebbie and say they had been planning to do that for a while but MJ's kids are crying for their grandma--who has been caring for them since their father died. I'm watching Dr. Drew and he has the woman who the late Whitney Houston was fighting at a club. She was on the X-Factor and may have had a romantic relationship with Ray-J. According to an AP story in the Post-Tribune, Indiana governor Mitch Daniels indicates many other pols have really sad and self-serving reasons to pen memories but he does not.

Filmmaker, producer and Washington, D.C. native, Jason E. Barnes is sizzling hot. His newest film, "Unreported," has a twist: male rape.

The film is in pre-production and Barnes is seeking to raise funds for the project.

When asked, Barnes said he chose the subject matter of the film because it happens more frequently that anyone will admit.

"This film delves into the after effects of the attack and really shows the breakdown that men feel when their manhood is threatened. Thousands of men are raped every year and very few (less than 5%) ever report it because they are fearful of being thought gay, less of a man, weak, etcetera but it still happens. More and more, men are targeted for just that reason," Barnes said.

Pressed further, films like "Deliverance," "Pulp Fiction" and "Brokeback Mountain," come to mind as they involve male rape or sodomy themes and scenes. Barnes insists his film is different.

"(With) Pulp fiction--it was only a small portion of the film. Brokeback Mountain was more of a gay love story."Unreported" is tapping into a topic that people will feel on a visceral level. No one up until now had made a script to explore this area of our lives. People will want to see it and it will get them communicating more," Barnes said. No word on whether or not the R-rated film will contain a male rape scene.

Barnes, who has been living in Los Angeles for a while, said the film tracks the psychological and physical breakdown of lead character, Justin Lake as his life is torn apart by the bad decisions he makes in the aftermath of his brutal attack--in an attempt to hide it.

Barnes said his will be the first feature film that deals realistically with the devastating impact of male rape outside of a prison setting.
